27 and 28th January 2021 - virtual meeting - a focus on pests, diseases and their impacts
The annual community meeting is an opportunity to find out about the early results and receive feedback from BIFoR research and practitioner communities. It is also a chance to be part of scientific discussion via talks from external speakers.
In this conference, we will address two fundamental and interrelated challenges the Institute endeavours to address:
the resilience of trees to invasive pests and disease
the impact of climate and environmental change on woodlands
We will have six keynote speakers (a mix of external and internal speakers) who will cover plant and forest sciences, policy and practice in relation to the resilience of trees to invasive pests and diseases.
Between the talks we’ll take the opportunity to highlight research from our final year post graduate researchers, some of who are part of the interdisciplinary Forest Edge Doctoral Scholarship Programme.
We’ll also provide an update on the early results from research in woodland in Staffordshire, the BIFoR Free-Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment (FACE) Facility where our research efforts focus on the impact of climate and environmental change on woodlands.
