Applications are invited for a Temporary 9 months post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science.
Recently we have reported novel maternal dietary inflammatory
associations with offspring outcomes in the ALPHABET consortium of 7
European birth cohorts (Chen et al., BMC Medicine 2021
10.1186/s12916-021-01908-7 and PLOS Medicine 2021
10.1371/journal.pmed.1003491). The current project will expand on these
findings. The post-doctoral researcher will conduct multi-cohort
individual participant data meta-analyses investigating associations
between the childrens dietary inflammatory index (C-DII) scores and
their weight status using existing data from the ALPHABET consortium,
which represents the largest single repository of C-DII data globally.
In addition the relationship between potential predictors of the C-DII
and risk of having a more pro-inflammatory childhood diet will be
examined. Candidates should be highly self-motivated, enthusiastic,
interact well within a research team and hold a PhD in a relevant
discipline, such as Epidemiology or Life Sciences, (with a focus on life
course or nutritional epidemiology and/or childhood obesity). The ideal
candidate must have excellent research skills as evidenced by a strong
publication track record, allied with exceptional mentorship, project
management and interpersonal skills. This is a research focused role,
where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by
research training and development under the supervision and direction of
a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further
develop your research skills and competences, including the processes
of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development
of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the
opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. In
addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the
successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific
