We seek a motivated and independent candidate for a 2-year (with possibility for extension) postdoc position in bioinformatics / data science available at the Department of Molecular Medicine (MOMA), Aarhus University.

The position is full time and available from 1 June 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for two years.

DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL MEDICINE

As a postdoc at the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our clinical research covers all the medical specialities and takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. We have approx. 30,000 square metres of modern research facilities for experimental surgery and medicine, animal facilities and also advanced scanners at our disposal. The department has overall responsibility for the Master’s degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. At the department we are approx. 425 academic employees and the same number of PhD students cooperating across disciplines. As a postdoc, you will be working on Aarhus University Hospital or another hospital in the Central Denmark Region. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.

THE RESEARCH GROUP

The bioinformatic groups at the Department of Molecular Medicine consists of 4 PIs and around 15 temporary researchers (graduate students and postdocs). The groups have strong ties and dual affiliations with the Bioinformatics Research Centre (BiRC) (www.birc.au.dk) at Aarhus University, where parts of the project may be carried out. The research activities spans from statistical modeling and methods development to experimental hypothesis evaluation and clinical translation. There are also close collaborations with the wet-lab and clinical groups at the department (https://moma.dk/bioinformatics).

You will work on an exciting project concerning mutational processes in germline or cancer. This can include analysis of datasets of human germline mutations or human cancer mutations. Depending on your interests, focus can be on methods development, large-scale data analysis, or both.
