We are seeking a candidate for a 2-year postdoc (fulltime) with competencies in Li-ion battery research especially within lab-scale battery fabrication, electrochemical analysis and evaluation of novel battery components.
Starting date:
March 1, 2022 or as soon as possible after.
Place of work:
Langelandsgade 140,8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.
The
work will be part of our recently started project “BetterLibs:
Developing electrolyte formulations with zwitterionic monomers for
better lithium-ion batteries”. The project is a collaboration between
BioModics ApS, Custom Cells Itzehoe GmbH, Uppsala University, Aalborg
University and Aarhus University. The part of the project to be carried
out at Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University will include studies
of the compatibility between the functional battery components and the
novel electrolyte formulations. The studies will include fabrication of
battery components and battery cells, electrochemical analysis as well
as some extent of chemical (e.g. ICP; XRF) and structural (e.g. PXRD,
SEM) analysis.
Your profile
The ideal candidate has a PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry,
Physics, or related disciplines. Important background includes strong
knowledge on battery science and electrochemistry as well as general
strong analytical abilities. Collaborative skills are necessary as well
as a high level of independence. Previous experience with structural

Who we are
The Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University is one of the leading
European chemistry departments with research programs that range from
medicinal chemistry to theoretical chemistry. It has a permanent staff
of 29 full and associate professors, a support-staff of ~25 people, ~100
PhD-students and postdocs, and more than 500 students.
Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for
applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee
chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of
department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will
be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an
expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will
be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant
is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that
concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final
letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
Letter of reference
If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf,
please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your
application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the
person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information,
and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter
of reference before the application deadline. Unfortunately, it is not
possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the
application deadline will be taken into consideration.
