Description

Ad Astra Fellows, UCD School of Earth Sciences

Applications are sought for Ad Astra Fellows within the UCD School of Earth Sciences.

In support of the 2024 University College Dublin Strategic Plan 'Rising to the Future', UCD continues its ambitious plan to increase our faculty numbers by 500 over five years.

With an initial 5-year contract, research support for these 5 years and the opportunity for an on-going contract subject to performance, there has never been a better time to join the faculty at Ireland's Global University and to live in one of Europe's most vibrant, friendly and connected capital cities.

UCD School of Earth Sciences has an internationally recognised reputation for excellence in teaching and research. It hosts the Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences (http://icrag-centre.org) and the National Centre for Isotope Geochemistry at UCD (NCIG), a world-class analytical facility. Our research is focused on current societal challenges including the energy transition, environmental change, geohazards and access to raw materials. We encourage you to visit the School website (https://www.ucd.ie/earthsciences/) where you can find further details.  The School provides a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology, in addition to other taught modules across Earth Science, Environmental Science and Sustainability. We also contribute to MSc degrees in Environmental Science, Environmental Sustainability, Energy Systems, and Risk, Resilience & Sustainability. A new MSc in Subsurface Characterisation and Geomodelling will be introduced in 2022. An ability and willingness to contribute significantly to these and future programmes, and to supervise MSc and PhD research, is expected.
