Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2, within UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science. The overarching aim of this study is to investigate less invasive practices to reduce the harmful effects of peatland management (in particular for forestry and peat extraction) on inland waters. The primary purpose of the role is to develop and compile existing data and review existing trials and select sites for suitable experiments to assess water quality by monitoring the water chemistry in managed vs natural/restored peatlands. The role also includes inputs in the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. Salary range: €39,131 - €45,157 per annumAppointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on the 9th of November 2021.
