Applications are invited for a position of Post-Doctoral Researcher in 3D Printed Rechargeable Batteries for Future Wearable Technologies and Connected Living.
This Enterprise Ireland funded project seeks to optimize and prototype 3D printable Li-ion batteries to match the design a human-centric wearable technologies, workspace environments or IoT devices for connected living. The customizable and configurable 3D printable battery development may also include expansion to aqueous electrolyte system with high energy density or Li-ion systems, with an overall aim to maximize volumetric energy density in a range of completely new battery shapes and structures. The project will also work in conjunction with Nokia Bell Labs to develop a protosolution power source for wearable technology. The 3D printed rechargeable battery chemistry will span Li-ion, Li-polymer or water-in-salt based aqueous systems to maximize the specific capacity (at cell level), volumetric energy density and cyclability for 3D printed rechargeable batteries.
The position requires Li-ion/Li-polymer/Li-S battery researcher interested in pushing the boundaries of customizable shaped batteries by new materials formulation (battery chemistry and printing polymer composites) and 3D printing/additive manufacturing technologies at UCC.
