Join us for the MA Creative Writing and Publishing Open Evening on 4 August 2021.
The event will feature two guest speakers from The Guardian who will be talking about the role of a features editor and how to write opinion pieces for a newspaper.
The role of a features editor - Coco Khan, commissioning editor for Guardian B2B and a columnist and feature writer at The Guardian, will talk about how features editors have responded to an extraordinary pandemic year, giving some insights into their experiences, commissioning articles, and editing features. There will also be a moderated Q&A during the talk.
How to write an opinion piece - Polly Toynbee, writer and columnist at The Guardian, will present a short, practical workshop exploring how to construct a successful column. There will also be an opportunity for an audience Q&A.
The session will include an overview of the MA Creative Writing and Publishing programme at the University of Lincoln, presented by Jason Whittaker, along with a quick introduction to how to apply and access funding for postgraduate study, delivered by Beth Pearson.
