A workshop series for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees on the academic job market.
About this event
The Graduate School, in conjunction with the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching, the Office of Fellowships, the Graduate Writing Place, and Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA) will host a workshop series for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees on the academic job market.
The Academic Job Market Preparation Workshop aims to create a collaborative working group in which each participant will develop materials required for their academic job market search.
Participants
will attend morning workshops that are designed to demystify
application materials and facilitated by the Graduate Writing Place,
Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA), the Searle Center for Advancing
Teaching and Learning, and the Office of Fellowships.
In the afternoons, participants will meet in smaller groups to workshop drafts. This workshop is structured to prioritize drafting academic job market materials in a supportive and collaborative setting. Seats in the afternoon writing groups are limited. If you want to apply for an afternoon writing group, you must register for all five sessions and submit an application here:
https://forms.tgs.northwestern.edu/view.php?id=307095.
Applications for writing groups are due by Thursday, August 12.
Students and postdocs from all disciplines are welcome.
This workshop series will take place over Zoom and the link to the meeting or webinar will be emailed to attendees who registered. Please email Beth Healey, PhD, assistant director of postdoctoral affairs, with any questions at [email protected].
